Computer vision can help organise images, surface visible damage, and prioritise review. It should not be presented as an infallible assessor.

The useful lesson is narrower: remote photo inspection can sit inside live underwriting and claims operations when the capture, review, and escalation steps are deliberately designed.
Structured photo-based inspection beats a physical-only process when it strengthens the evidence chain. Guided capture, quality checks, AI-assisted triage, durable records, and human escalation can make the workflow easier to start and easier to review without removing accountability.
The right question is not whether AI replaces physical inspection. It is which cases can proceed with structured evidence and which still need hands-on review.
